Guidelines for Reviewers

Our purpose at MyAllow is to help people navigate the online world smarter and safer. MyAllow is open, independent, and impartial — we help users make informed choices about websites, apps, and online platforms, while giving honest businesses a chance to build trust and improve. We believe in the power of real user reviews to spot scams, red flags, and great experiences. Everyone can contribute to building our trusted community, but to protect its integrity, all reviewers must follow these guidelines, our Terms of Use, and all policies on our site.

Key Takeaways

Our full Guidelines go deep into many topics — here are the essentials you need to know:

  • Anyone can read reviews for free, but you need a user account to write one.
  • Reviews must be based on your genuine, personal experience with a website, app, or online service (keep it relevant and recent).
  • No incentivized reviews — never write one if offered money, discounts, free access, affiliate commissions, or any benefit in exchange.
  • Be respectful: no hate speech, threats, obscenity, defamation, or promotional/spam content.
  • You can edit or delete your own reviews anytime.
  • Fake reviews (not based on real experience) are strictly prohibited and will be removed.
  • You can flag reviews you believe violate MyAllow’s guidelines.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a user account to write reviews?

Everyone can browse and read reviews anytime for free. But to write, edit, or manage reviews, you need a user account.

A MyAllow account lets you:

  • Update or delete your existing reviews
  • Get notified when a platform replies
  • Respond to requests for more info from the reviewed website/platform

Create an account with email or via Google, Apple, or X. Choose a username and profile picture — no impersonation, advertising, hate speech, or profanity allowed. We encourage verifying your ID to build more trust in the community.

What if my username, profile picture, or details are wrong?

You can update your username, photo, or other info anytime in your account settings. Deleting your account is permanent and removes all your reviews too.

You’re only allowed one account — if you created multiples by mistake, contact us to merge them.

Who can and can’t write a review?

If you’re over 18 and have had a recent genuine experience (within the last 12 months) with a website, app, or online service — even just browsing, signing up, chatting support, or trying a free tool — you can review it.

Reviews must reflect your own experience (or, in rare cases, someone you’re assisting like a family member who can’t write). No reviews if:

  • You received or were offered any incentive (discounts, free trials, affiliate payouts, refunds, etc.) tied to the review.
  • You have a special relationship to the platform (owner, employee, family, competitor, affiliate promoter, etc.) — to prevent bias.

Do I have to be invited to leave a review?

No — MyAllow is fully open. Write anytime without invitation. Businesses/platforms can invite you too, but invitations must be neutral and honest (see our Guidelines for Businesses).

If you suspect unfair inviting (e.g., pressuring for positive reviews), report via our Whistleblower Form.

How do I write a useful review?

A great review helps others decide: describe your real experience, what worked/didn’t, any red flags or scams spotted, pros/cons, and why you gave that rating. Include relevant details (e.g., hidden fees, ease of use, customer support response). Keep it recent — people want to know how the platform operates today.

MyAllow is for honest feedback on online experiences — not for off-topic rants, news opinions, or promotions. Non-useful reviews may be deprioritized or removed. In disputes, we stay neutral unless law requires otherwise.

Can I edit or delete my reviews?

Yes — edit or delete anytime via your account. Update if your opinion changes or an issue is resolved (but no one can pressure you). If you have multiple experiences, write separate reviews; newest shows on top, only latest counts toward rating.

What about fake reviews?

Fake reviews don’t reflect a real experience and aim to manipulate perception (boost or bash a site). They’re illegal and destroy trust — we remove them immediately.

We use automated detection (behavior analysis, patterns), tech, and community reports to catch fakes. All reviews are scanned before posting. Detected fakes are removed per our Action We Take policy.

Can a website/platform request information from me?

Yes — they can ask for proof (order ID, email, screenshots) to verify or resolve issues. If you respond, info goes directly to them. You’re not required to share — it’s your choice.

If you decline and they flag, we may ask you for verification to keep the review fair.

Can I flag reviews that breach MyAllow’s guidelines?

Yes — every review has a flag button. Use it to report violations. Businesses and users can flag. Misuse (e.g., mass-flagging same review) is not allowed.

See flagged activity on the platform’s Company Activity page.

For which reasons can a review be flagged?

Reviews can be flagged for:

  • Harmful/illegal content: Hate speech, threats, violence, obscenity, terrorism promotion, defamation (businesses only), etc.
  • Personal information: Don’t share others’ private details (names, emails, addresses) unless public on their site.
  • Advertising/promotional: No unrelated links, promo codes, spam, scams, misinformation, or off-topic political/religious content.
  • Not genuine experience: Must be real — hold proof if asked.
  • Wrong platform: Review must match the listed site.

What happens if my review is flagged?

We treat all flags fairly — no favoritism for paid users. Harmful content may be blurred during review. We may ask for updates or proof. We remove only if it breaks guidelines or law requires. Businesses can’t force removal — we stay neutral.

What if I disagree with a decision?

Reply to our email explaining why — our Content Integrity team will re-review. If still disagree, use the dispute link in our final email. Contact us for help.

Can MyAllow remove my user account?

You can delete anytime — you’ll still read reviews, but can’t write. We may suspend/block for misuse (repeated harmful content, threats, data scraping, etc.).

Who has the final say?

These are guiding principles — we interpret and update them as needed. Visit our Contact Us page for more. Let’s keep MyAllow honest and trustworthy together!
